The Purpose Of Struggle. . .

Posted on Jul 16, 2018 by | 0 comments

Why must we struggle in this life? Why no matter what my beliefs or my practice must i still have difficulty?

For wisdom does not come without work and ease in life always requires effort.

This is a manifestation of the Buddha’s teachings – we are given both joy and struggle so that we can deepen our education, become stronger people, live more profound lives and secure deeper, more lasting meaning and purpose. If we received everything we desired immediately, we’d become lazy and degenerate (look at some of the most unbridled successes).

It is our struggles both large and small that hold the key to build a life of great dignity and substance. It is within our own efforts that we realize hope and proceed through life with not only meaning, but substance.

Peace and Love, Jim
