Growing. . .

I walked past a tree today that I swear was bare last week, now it’s full of leaves (I live in Atlanta so the seasons change quickly).

I ride my bike and take walks on pretty much the same paths and routes so I often notice things change as the seasons shift. Yet this little tree which was pretty bare was now full of new leaves. Not buds in progress, but full leaves Just popping out everywhere and it made me laugh a little because I realized something.

Growth doesn’t always announce itself.

We think we’ll feel it. That there will be some clear signal that says, “Hey, you’re evolving. You’re better now.” But most of the time, it’s quiet and Invisible in the moment. Then one day, you look up and realize something is different.

You’re handling things differently.

You’re thinking differently.

You’re reacting with a little more space, a little more awareness.

Though silent and often unnoticed – you’ve grown. Spring is full of these reminders. Few things force their way into existence. Some of the smallest yet powerful changes all happens gradually, behind the scenes, until suddenly they become undeniable. So if you feel like nothing is changing, pause and look again – You might just be in the middle of it.

Peace and Love, Jim
