Identity Desire. . .
In 2026, personal branding is not reserved for celebrities. It is cultural baseline.
Profiles are curated. Bios are strategic. Metrics track visibility and engagement. Even authenticity can become a performance.
Buddhism gently questions the solidity of the self.
The Buddha taught anatta, non-self. Not that we do not exist, but that the “self” is a constantly shifting aggregation of experiences, roles, and perceptions.
When identity becomes rigid, suffering follows.
If your worth rises and falls with followers, views, or applause, your emotional state becomes externally managed.
Ask yourself:
Who am I when no one is watching?
Who am I without the narrative I present?
This inquiry is not about abandoning ambition. It is about loosening attachment.
You can build, create, market, and share without fusing your core identity to performance.
Branding is a tool. Ego clinging is a trap.
When you see identity as fluid, criticism softens. Praise becomes lighter. Comparison loses its sting.
Awareness remains constant beneath the roles.
You are not your profile.
You are the consciousness experiencing it.
Peace and Love, Jim
