Buddhism teaches that one characteristic of a bodhisattva is being able to perceive the world’s environments. Sounds, sights, smells all of this body perceptions should be embraced.

We often seek retreat and removal from these things in our busy and hectic lives. Yes its healthy and good but we must always seek balance by sinking into what is in front of us socially, physically and mentally. One may think of the city as unpleasant or a long ride boring, but with attention the city can be a marvel and the ride a chance to just sit, gaze or meditate.

The insight needed to correctly discern and grasp developments in society and the times–even to anticipate them before they happen–is indispensable. This comes from one source only – your openness to experiencing this life fully.

Peace and Love, Jim
