Thoughts Become Things. . .

“All that we are is the result of what we have thought. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him. If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him.” – Buddha

This simple but powerful way of thinking may be hard to accept or grasp at first but if we stop and look deeply into life then we can see nothing but truth here. We are born into this world with a complete dependance on others – what we are fed, what we are exposed to and what we are taught. The gift of maturity and wisdom is that we decide much like Siddhartha, to step out of those conditioned ways and see the world for ourselves through a different lens and understanding.

Buddha said, “The mind is everything. What you think you become.” James Allen said, “Man is mind.”
In order to live rightly, you must fill your mind with “right” thoughts. When referencing “right” here in this context we must also recognize respect and understanding for with the full picture we fall victim to “right for oneself” vs “right for the world” as a whole.

Yes its a delicate balance, welcome to Buddhism.

Your thinking determines your actions; your actions determine your outcome. Right thinking will grant you wisdom and grace; wrong thinking is a vice that will eventually taint and destroy the gifts of life and understanding. If you change your thinking you will change your life. Buddha said, “All wrong-doing arises because of mind. If mind is transformed can wrong-doing remain?”

Shape your thoughts and you shape your life.

Peace and Love, Jim
