Speed Bumps. . .

We rush through the small things—laundry, dishes, sweeping—treating them like speed bumps in our day. But Zen teaches us: the small is the great. The act of washing a bowl is the act of cleaning the mind.

Don’t do dishes to get to something else.

Feel the warmth of the water. Smell the soap. Watch how your hand moves. Let your thoughts come and go like bubbles rising and popping.

In this moment, there is no past or future, only presence.

By practicing mindfulness during chores, we shift from “doing” life to living it. The kitchen sink becomes a sanctuary.

Peace and Love, Jim
